The finished product
How was it Made?
First, using heavy card-stock paper, a mold for inserting expanding foam was created. This was created with a lot of design flexibility in mind, and I used my computer mouse (Logitech M310) as a guideline.
Expanding foam was mixed and poured into the mold, within about 30 minutes, the mold could be removed and what is left is a hard foam shape.
The foam shape was shaved using a knife, and the finished foam shape was used as a base for the finished product. The following six images document this process and some of the tools that I used. To heat the Chavant CM-70 hard styling clay (this makes it easily moldable) I used a heat gun, and to shape the clay, I used the tools seen in the images. I noticed that it was much easier to shape the clay with my hands than with the tools.
After sculpting the clay using the methods described through the images above, the final product was finished.
