how was it made?
First, a series of sketches were drawn in order to quickly generate ideas. These design ideas are shown in the slide show here.
An iterative prototyping process was used to refine the design here, but the amount of material used in designing the final product was kept to a minimum.

After laser-cutting the 1/8" sheet of acrylic, I used a heat gun to bend the flat piece into its final shape. A metal rod was used to control the curvature while bending and a vise was used to hold the work piece in place.
